- Name: William O'Day
I am drawn to the promise of technology. The hope it offers people to push beyond their boundaries. This chance at something enabling. I try to be that enabler. And to that end, I present my work.
My overriding philosophy towards web design and programming is open standards. I design sites for the XHTML/CSS standards. This allows for a whole order of easier accessibility and simplicity. By separating content from presentation, I am able to allow for ease of editing content pages without concerning oneself about breaking the presentation.
As a system administrator, I have always focused on enabling end users. The goal of a systems environment should never be a static, staid environment, but one in which the ever-changing demands of business push the limits of the technology providing a stable and novel service.

University of Rhode Island Memorial Union
- Status: Off-Line
- Technologies Used: XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
- Description: This project began in late 2003, due to an aging and inconsistent original web site. The original site had a number of different layouts completely dependent on the individual responsible for writing them, making any sense of brand or continuity impossible. Due to the size of this site, I put together an entire IA survey of the organization. Also, a number of possible layouts were discussed before this version was finalized. Due to changing needs, this site was abandoned in late 2005 for a similar design.
Logo Work
New England Institute of Human Sexuality
Logo developed for NEIHS web site discussed above. The vision for this logo was that it needed to have a groundbreaking appearance while still displaying some of classicism of an educational institution.
University of Rhode Island Welcome Week 2003
Logo developed for a series of events occurring over the first week of a new school term in order to help the first-year students acclimate to a new environment. The wave was chosen in order to tie into the new student orientation that the first-year students had already been a part of.
The Snowbird
Logo developed for a Writing course in which I was charged with developing a restaurant and developing a number of written pieces. One of the major design elements of all pieces was this logo.
